Carrying litanies to the gods on behalf of mortals, they are depicted as the counterpart to Ate, ruin incarnate. The Litai follow after Ruin to offer healing and restoration to those caught in its path, giving this face a natural capacity to call upon the powers that be. Taurus III may be well acquainted with destruction (Saturn) but in Venus’ domain, with the assistance of the Litai, there is support and power to be found in remediation. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eAdditionally, the dark fixed star Algol, “The Eye of Medusa”, resides at 26 degrees of Taurus. Invoking the myth and tragedy of Medusa and further emphasising this Decans familiarity with dark terrain, the confronting of fears and the unseen. Kira Ryberg calls Taurus III “holy and harrowing”. There are gifts to be found in the darkness that can’t be earned elsewhere. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eThe tarot card for this face is the 7 of Pentacles where we see a figure leaning on their hoe, observing their crops, perhaps daunted by the job in front of them. Failure is often associated with this card and T Susan Chang interprets this as a “Fail Better”. In Saturnian time and thought, failure is a vital part of progress. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eIn mapping out Taurus III, serpentine imagery caught my minds eye. Agrippa depicts a man whose hand is a serpent as part of the image for the decan. As mentioned, Algol and Medusa are influences. And finally, Coppock speaks to Taurus III as “confrontation with destruction as completion” — this idea along with other themes in Taurus III continued pulling me back to the Ouroboros. Taurus II is a decan of balance, abundance and generative union: the fertilisation of land and the harvest that follows, the key and lock that open the door to beyond. With abundance comes stability, and here we find the fixed decan of the fixed earth sign. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eTiming is intrinsic to this face. The Horae or “Hours” are the presiding deities of Taurus II. They are guardians of the gates to Olympus, responsible for the turning of seasons, time and the cycles of all things. Placements in this decan do well to be guided by the notion that there is a time for everything. Attuning to cyclical time is a profound way to reap an abundant harvest. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eMultiple sources speak to the ripeness of a moment, to seed both earth and womb we have to be in tune with the moment of a cycle (the seasons\/the ovulation window). Beyond sex, there is a sensuality to this decan. Austin Coppock refers to the card as the fear of this decan, the fear being that we are under resourced, and so we labour mentally and physically to see that it is not so. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eT. Susan Chang calls this card “Sacred Doubt” and references Mercury as the magician. The magician pours their effort and attentiveness into their craft but at some point the work is done and belief is all that there is left to do. In the same way, the farmer cultivates the land, tirelessly prepares the soil and eventually sows the seeds.
