Austin Coppock calls this face “The Apple of Eden”, where we taste the fruit of awareness and curiosity abounds, where we discover duality and explore endless polarities in the self and world around us.
Gemini I fractures the illusion of the self as one and unveils our multiplicities. Placements here are well acquainted with the process of breaking things apart, naming them to know them. Equally there is an ability to bring seemingly disparate things together in order to create something whole. With Mercury and Jupiter as co-rulers, this face seeks to explore possibilities, to investigate ideas, to learn in multitudes and to share it all with others. Gemini I is a decan of side quests.
T. Susan Chang says this decan is “dazzled and confounded by the wealth of paths”. With the expanse of possibility and immense excitement of exploring intelligence comes the inevitable confrontation with choice. For Gemini I, having to choose one route over another can be paralysing, even painful.
The tarot card for Gemini I is the 8 of Swords, where a woman is blindfolded and bound above water. A common interpretation being that she is paralysed by endless options and an overactive mind. Kira Ryberg looks to the water in the card as the key, a reminder to honour intuition when the voices of logic become so loud they bind us.
Tethys, the goddess of fresh water and wife of Oceanus, is the presiding deity of Gemini I. She appears very little in myth but her name is derived from the Greek word for grandmother. Her presence here feels like a protective, waterborne remediation to the frenzied mind.

Conciously sourced, traceable stones means ethical mining and living-wage paid workers. Unfortunately, there are no current international standards for mining rocks and gemstones and greenwashing has become increasingly popular in the industry. I moved away from the phrasing
"ethically sourced" for this reason.
I primarily source my stones from small lapidary artists who have mined the rock themselves or can trace who did.

I take care to test all pieces for quality assurance. It's important to me that I create jewellery that can live many lifetimes.
In the event that there are structural issues within 6 months of your order and it is clearly a quality fault, I will happily repair the piece or exchange where possible.
